How many reusable nappies do I need?
Share
This is one of the most common questions I am asked when talking about reusable cloth nappies. The answer depends on how often you plan to wash them and how old your baby is.
If you are starting with a newborn or newborn size nappies, you'll need more as you change a newborn so frequently in the early days. You roughly change every 2 hours (sometimes more!) which can mean you go through 20 nappies in under 2 days! A brilliant solution to this are all in two options such as the Close Pop In nappy as you can use the same shell 2 or 3 time and just change the absorbent part. If your little one is bigger and you are using onesize or birth-to-potty nappies, you're likely changing baby every 4 hours roughly. If you wash every other day, you'll need around 15-20 nappies. I would recommend 20-25 including night nappy options as then that allows you to wash every third day rather than every other. I don't have a tumble drier so rely on being able to air dry our nappies - either outside or on soctopus hooks inside. This means that sometimes I can't wash every other day as I need the first load to be dry and clothes washes to also get done so 20-25 allows me some flexibility.
